Lets be clear, you cannot out run a poor diet (trust me I’ve tried). Nutrition makes up 80% of your weight and only 20% is from exercise. Exercise alone will not help you maintain a healthy weight. I am in no way a nutritional expert, all I have is my own experiences with weight fluctuation to base this article off of. I have tried a lot of “diets” and what I’ve learned is that there is quick miracle fix. It really takes lifestyle changes and long term, everyday choices that lead to better eating habits. It really is all about the little choices that you make throughout the day that lead to a healthy or unhealthy well being.
Healthy Eating Pointers…
- Add as many fruits and veggies as you can to your plate. Its extremely hard to overeat a plate full of veggies.
- The majority of your diet should be composed of WHOLE FOODS, try buying most of your foods with less than three ingredients on the package. Examples; Meat, Eggs, Veggies, Fruits, Legumes, Nuts and Seeds, Fish
- Eliminate added sugar every chance you get. Start by taking it out of your coffee first thing in the morning.
- Start the day with a healthy breakfast. Studies show that will power is strongest early in the day so why not start your day on a good note.
- Drink LOTS and LOTS of water. First thing when you wake up, before every meal and before bead is a good start. Try and aim for half your body weight in ounces of water per day.
- Try making every meal you eat a good balance of protein, veggies and fat.
- Reach for a small balanced mini meal instead of snacking.
